1 John 3:17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

It has been a busy month here in Roatan. Unfortunately, the rains have started a little early and so the construction efforts in the Colonia have been slowed but God has allowed us to get a lot of work done in fewer days even with that. We are still hopeful to get Jose and Angela in their new home before the heavier rains come in December and January.
Travis has been doing construction work at Claire's house who is a single mom at the church with two kids. We have helped install a well, laying pipe for the water, bug proofing the house with window screens, and filling in openings in the walls and ceiling. We are waiting for a fix to the church's generator to finish the well and get water running into the house. He is also helping with coordinating two projects this coming week. The first is to keep water from entering Rosinda's house through her damaged roof and redirecting water from a cliff and creek away from her back door. With mud floors, contaminated water entering can become a breeding ground for bugs and disease for her young kids and herself. The second project is at Sondra's house who is a mother of five including a Down's Syndrome child who is two years old. Kids with special needs are not allowed to go to school here and that is very sad. Their house is 10 ft x 20 ft and is made of tarps with four posts and a porch. (pics above) We are going to add siding onto this on Tuesday and help bug proof it as well. Please pray for no rain on Tuesday!
Travis has been presented with an opportunity to preach on Sundays at a church and we are waiting for final word on this from the leadership team. Pray that God might use this opportunity to reach a new group of people on the island hungry for His word. More details to come...
Tish is teaching a missionary ladies class and that is going well with new ladies coming. She is also busy with activities with the Orphanage and helping with the younger kids. The child that was brought to the orphanage after receiving a severe beating at the hands of his Aunt is doing well. At first he wouldn't speak for many days but now you can't keep him quiet. He is very happy and enjoying living at the children's home. His name is Jiro but it is pronounced more like HiLo. They have been bringing the orphanage kids to the beach on Sunday afternoons and our kids have done a wonderful job of playing with them and making them feel special.
Ella celebrated her birthday this month and we had her birthday party this past Friday. She continues to play piano for the church on Sundays and Wednesdays and is now helping to sing on some songs. The kids are helping out around the house, and learning Spanish quickly. Eli now even recognizes when a translator makes a mistake.
We have also been working on coordinating teams for the upcoming year. We have a medical missions team and two construction teams in addition to several individuals and families planning on trips. We welcome all as there is plenty of need to go around. If you are interested in coming please contact us and we can give you more information on how to arrange this. We miss our church family and friends back home and love hearing from you. Thank you for your continued prayers. Please keep them coming!
En Cristo,
Travis, Tish, Ella, Zachary, Heather and Eli
